| | The
soldiers of the Grand Marais Mardi Gras were back on the march
February 22, 2004, ready to take their punishment in the hope of
making homeowners more charitable as a way of rewarding the  humility
and sacrifice of the Mardi Gras.
For the young men who band together in solidarity to submit to the
hard lashes of the co-capitaines, it is both a kind of ritual
display of courage and a game of role-playing that is not without
			real pain.
