Eunice
Cajun Prairie Festivals

Note: The festival described on this page is no longer held (updated Dec. 2008).

The Prairie Cajun Folklife Festival is held in October in Eunice to highlight the unique culture of the prairie region of Acadiana. The festival features musicians, craftspeople, storytellers, demonstrations, and more. Visitors from around the state and across the nation come to the festival to see cultural traditions brought to life. The  festival typically includes Cajun, Zydeco, and swamp pop musicians.

In 1999, the festival was held in August in conjunction with the  FrancoFête and Congrès Mondial Acadien. The Chamber of Commerce sponsored a one-time Fall Fest in November 1999. In 2000,  the Prairie Cajun Folklife Festival returned to its usual month of October.

Pictured from previous festivals are Michael Doucet in the top photograph, Zydeco Joe Mouton, and Steve Riley.
